2011 Schweiz / Switzerland

Sommer über den Hochalpen, das heisst hoch starten. Nach dem Start ein Blick hinunter zum Startplatz Motta Naluns auf ca. 2800 Meter über Meer gelegen bei Scuol. After take-off a view down to the launch site on Motta Naluns about 2800 meters sea level near Scuol.Nach längerem Flug bei guter Thermik über dem Engadin gute Sicht auf die Passtrasse zum Stilfser Joch und zum Umrailpass. Der Ortler im Hintergrund, mit 3905 Metern der höchste Berg in ganz Tirol/Südtirol und somit auch der höchste Berg östlich der Schweizer Grenze, kämpft mit den Wolken. Beim Rückflug ein Blick nach St. Moritz mit dem See, der Flugplatz Samedan ist ganz rechts am Bildrand. On the return flight a view to St. Moritz and the lake, the airport of Samedan is quite right.

2011 Italien / Italy

Besuch der 18. Weltmeisterschaft in Sigillo am Monte Cucco. Wohnen auf einem Schloss, in Italien ist so etwas möglich. Das Schloss von Barbarossa aus dem 12. Jahrhundert wurde zu einem Hotel umgebaut. Visit the 18 world championship in Sigillo on Monte Cucco. Living in a castle, in Italy it is possible. Zuerst mit Giulia, meiner italienischen Freundin aus Metall. Dann mit Evgenya Lartiskaya Top-Pilotin aus Russland und Johnny Durand der Nummer 1 aus Australien. Bill Moyes, die Drachenflug-Legende aus Australien war mit seiner Frau Molly und Tochter Vicky dort. Nach dem Start ein Blick zurück zum vollen Startplatz. Ein Gespräch mit Manfred Ruhmer aus Österreich dem Konstrukteur dieses wunderbaren Fluggerätes und mit dem alten und neuen Weltmeister Alex Ploner aus Italien. Dann mit Michel Louzada der Nummer 1 aus Brasilien und Jamie Wanders-Shelden USA, sie flog im vergangenen Januar in Australien 318 km weit. Good Thermals under cloudy skies. 2011 Liechtenstein

Ein Zwischenhoch und ab in die Luft. Bei einer Basishöhe von ca. 2500 Meter über Meer Blich Richtung Süd zum Nafkopf. A small ridge of high pressure and quickly into the air. At a base height of about 2500 meters above sea views towards the South Nafkopf.

2011 Liechtenstein

Die Flugsaison 2011 hat begonnen. Bei guten thermischen Verhältnissen hoch über dem Falknis mit Blick auf die schneebedeckten Berge und weit nach Nord. The flying season 2011 has begun. With good thermal conditions above the Falknis overlooking the snow-capped mountains and far to the north.

2010 Südafrika / South Africa

Nach zwei Stunden Fahrt von Kapstadt nach Porterville stand ich bei 31 Grad und guten Flugverhälnissen startbereit auf der Startrampe. After two hours drive from Cape Town to Porterville, I stood at 31 degrees and allredy good flight conditions on Start.

Dort machte ich einen guten Flug vom Dasklip Pass aus mit wunderbarer Aussicht über das Farmland und die Olifants Berge vom Westkap. There I made a good flight from Dasklip Pass with magnificent views over the farm land and the Olifants Mountains of western cape.

2010 Südafrika / South Africa
Nun war ich also wieder einmal in Südafrika, in Kapstadt und bei etwas windigen Verhälnissen am Lions Head gestartet. So I arrived in South Africa again, in Cape Town directly. At some windy conditions start from Lions Head.

Es ging über den bekannten Tafelberg, die Apostel und die ganze Stadt. Die Sicht reichte bis Robben Island weit draussen im Meer. Flying over the famouse Table Mountain, the Apostles and the popular city. The view went out far over the sea to Robben Island.

Vor der Landung direkt am Meer noch ein Blick in das Innere des Green Point Stadions. Before Landing near the sea, a look directly into the Green Point Stadium.

2010 Namibia
Drei Tage hintereinander Fliegen bei sehr guten Flugbedingungen, ich hatte wirklich genug und brauchte einen Ruhetag. Ich war auch nicht Böse weil es die folgenden Tage mehr Wolken und auch stärkere Winde haben sollte. So war Erholung auf der Farm und Besichtigung der Umgebung angesagt. Rückblick: Ich machte drei Dreiecksflüge über 338, 343 und 324 Km in gut 24 Stunden Flugzeit. Zusammen gezäht konnte ich über 1000 Kilometer weit fliegen. Es war wunderbar. Beim zweiten Flug über 343 Km wollte ich die zweite Wende etwas weiter nördlich Richtung Pokweni machen, aber ein Gewitter machte das unmöglich und ein Weltrekord konnte nicht realisiert werden. Ich bin mir sicher; Namibia ist ein Flugparadis, aber Namibia ist noch viel mehr, denn ganz Namibia ist ein grosses Abendteuer!
Three days in a row similar to the good flying conditions, witch meant flying until I really had enough and need a rest day. So I was glad that the remaining two days were partly cloudy and to windy.That was announced relaxing on the base and sighteeing in the area. Review: Triangel flights of 338,343 and 324 Km I could take in about 24 hours of flight time. So I was added together in three flights flown over 1000 Km away and it was huge fun. At the second flight over 343 Km I wanted the second turning point can be pushed further towards Pokweni but the thunderstorm did not make this possible so a world record could not be realized. I am sure; Namibia is truly a Flying Paradise and Namibia is a lot more, Namibia is a great adventure!
